If you've answered "Yes" to any of the above questions, you're in the right place!

The weather is getting warmer, so it's time to put down the remote and get off the couch!

Come on down to BOX A ROUND BOXING CLUB - where our costs are less, so we can charge less!

Don't believe us? Check out our competitors before you call us!

At BOX A ROUND BOXING CLUB, this Bud's for you!

BOX A ROUND BOXING CLUB was opened by the late David A. Schnopp as a part of Nautilus Fitness around 1993, and since 1995 it has been the home of U. B. L. - "University of Bud Lakin", featuring Bud Lakin, Professor of Pugilism, trainer of champions, former Maine amateur boxing champion (1952-1954) 13-2-0 (6 KO) and professional boxer (1954-1961) 12-1-0 (7 KO), and an extraordinary master of the square circle (boxing ring).

Most gyms need a whole staff to try and match Bud's 50+ years of boxing experience!

Ask anyone who knows anything about boxing - boxing training is the ultimate workout.

We start with the basics, including mechanics: stance, footwork, leverage, balance, movement - including rhythm and momentum, coordination, powerful straight fast snapping punches: jab, right hand (or left, if you're a 'southpaw'), hooks, upper cuts, and combinations. Also positioning: hands up, chin down, elbows in. Then there's defensive movements and strategies: head, arm and body movements - parrying & cuffing, slipping & faking, bobbing & weaving, lateral movements, angles, distance, timing - and on down the line.

There's also conditioning: circuit and mirror training, shadow boxing, heavy bag, speed bag, jump rope, strength training, and stomach exercises, plus roadwork, diet, and when and how to train - including stretching at the beginning and end of every workout, so you don't feel 'knocked out' the next day!

All of these techniques can be applied to help you learn focus and apply strategy that can help you in the rest of your busy life and can help instill confidence while you're shaping up!

BOX A ROUND BOXING CLUB is a member of United States Amateur Boxing.

If you are consistent in your training, and you really want a challenge, you can box a round with Bud!

If you have the proper training and equipment (16 oz. or larger training gloves, headgear, mouthpiece, and protector), and you have a current athlete membership/license from United States Amateur Boxing, we can arrange supervised sparring and, if you have the heart, we can even arrange amateur competition.

Don't want to compete? Don't want to become a prize fighter? That's OK, you can just train like one! Don't want to hit anything that hits back? No problem, you can hit just the bags and the mitts. We always want our students to feel comfortable and safe and we can help you choose your own goals and level of intensity.

We bring out the very best in all our students - men, women and children, ages 6 - 60 plus, regardless of size, ability or even the shape you're in - apple, pear, or Mr. or Ms. Universe!

Our prices won't knock you out! We offer semi-private, small group, and a few private lessons to ensure plenty of personal attention for our students - all at the most reasonable rates around.

If you are looking to work out at BOX A ROUND BOXING CLUB, our club memberships are by the month, with no minimum commitment. We can even set you up by the week, whether you're getting in shape for your favorite sport, be it football, basketball, soccer, tennis, or whatever, or if you're only available between semesters, while you are visiting here on vacation, or for business.

There's even a reasonably priced daily drop in fee, which is a knock out deal that can't be beat, and is perfect if you are a visiting dignitary or just want to work out occasionally without making a commitment, and there's never an enrollment fee at BOX A ROUND BOXING CLUB.

For those of you who have made a commitment to another health club or gym facility, we invite you to add boxing lessons at BOX A ROUND BOXING CLUB to your workout routine.

Looking for racketball, tennis, spinning, swimming, yoga, pilates, tae bo, martial arts, or kick boxing? Want a place with shiny floors or wall-to-wall carpeting, air conditioning, and showers with saunas, steam rooms, towel service and blow dryers? Sorry, we're a good old-fashioned boxing gym.

Looking for boxing lessons with one of the best trainers around or a convenient and reasonably priced place to work out? We have a fully equipped boxing gym - with plenty of heavy bags, double end bag, upper cut bag, different sized speed bags, a 20 foot elevated ring, and our walls are covered with one of the largest collections of boxing ephemera (fight posters, programs, pictures, articles, banners, etc.) around. Come check us out!
